Underwater Plasma Densification of Stabilized Zirconia - A Concept for the Production of Spherical Composite Powders. (1998)

Abstract
The influence of powder technology on the spraying process is growing more and more. The use of powders with different morphologies results in a variety of coating properties. Plasma processing of ceramic composite powders underwater produces dense and spherical powders with excellent morphologies and flowabilities. By spraying these powders, coatings of improved quality are produced. This paper describes the production concept of underwater plasma processed zirconia powder. The most important parameters and standards are highlighted. Moreover, the influence of the powder characteristics on coating properties will be pointed out and underlined with some results.
