Entwicklung von Verfahren zur Prognose des Ertrags großflächiger Energieversorgungssysteme auf der Basis von Satelliteninformationen (2003)

Abstract
Increasing fractions of solar and wind power production will add extra fluctuations to the power flow in public electricity grids. This impact of the variability of renewable power production on the grid operation is studied in this work. Starting from image data of the European meteorological satellite Meteosat, this contribution is focused on the evaluation of the temporal and spatial properties of the solar irradiation field. The frequency and the impact of extreme irradiation conditions is assessed with respect to a future electricity supply system. Beside using standard tools of statistical analysis, the solar irradiation field is investigated by means of wavelet analysis and multiresolution decomposition. An example evaluation is carried out using a new multi-node model of a nationwide electricity grid. Through this combination of energy meteorology and system simulation tools, some general ideas on future solar elecricity grids are lined out.
