| LESSONS FROM THE SIX COUNTRY ANALYSES Simon Evenett University Gallen April The purpose this concluding chapter two fold draw out several themes that recur the six chapters describing country experiences with competition laws and proposals enact such statutes and identify number lessons for policymakers the coming years hoped that these concluding observations will interest government officials the Asia Pacific region scholars that region and competition law and its enforcement developing countries and officials from international organizations and civil society sharpen the discussion the remarks this chapter concerning competition law and its implemetnation are organized around the following four questions competition law threat development the Asia Pacific region different competition law inherently anti big business effective implementation possible few caveats and preliminary comments are also order First although these four questions cover many the important matters relationg competition law the AsiaPacific region the reader should not conclude that these are the only significant issues Second even though the comments presented here draw extensively the country analyses these concluding remarks are mine and not necessarily those the authors those country studies The latter after all have had their opportunity present their own policy recommendations and findings earlier chapters value added any look across chapters identify common themes and findings and draw from the ex | |||||||||||||
