Teaching Adaptive Systems with an Interactive, Electronic Book (2000)

Abstract
This paper summarizes our efforts to develop a new computer based learning environment to teach adaptive systems in the EE undergraduate curriculum. The learning environment is based upon an electronic book containing a hypertext document linked with a software simulator which runs interactive examples on-line, and is fully controlled by the student. 1. Introduction The ultimate goal of this project is to teach adaptive systems in the undergraduate EE curriculum. Adaptive systems (adaptive filters and neural networks) are becoming ubiquitous in engineering applications, as the new advances in optical character recognition, speech recognition, intelligent control [1], and adaptive signal processing [2] clearly demonstrate.
