| Material flow control systems are one of the main components of modern manufacturing or logistics systems. They have a major influence on the robustness and the performance. Nevertheless, the main part of the development of the control systems starts when the hardware is installed. Thus, start-up takes more time, and the performance of the control systems is suboptimal. Alternatively, control systems can be developed in advance with the help of discrete event simulations. The following paper presents costs and benefits of the development of control systems by means of discrete event simulations. | |||||||||||
