Abstract
Presentation discusses the designing of Digital library as par the user expectations. Presentation discusses issues like Query formation, Document Matching, Ranking of search results and presentability. In this presentation we consider the impact on the user of the design and implementation of Digital Libraries, with an emphasis on current research results. While the concept of a Digital Library can be traced to Vannevar Bush’s memex (1) and earlier, implementations became feasible with access to computers in the mid-1960’s and we read of Licklider’s (2) library of the future, Nelson’s (3) hyperspace and Lancaster’s paperless library. There is little doubt that the modern era of the Digital Library arrived with widespread access to information provided by networks and the Internet and recognized in 1996 by the United States ’ National Science Foundation funding for Digital Libraries (4). The term Digital Library now carries a variety of meanings to a variety of constituents from electronic access to the catalogs of a conventional library, electronic access to databases
