Durchgängige und integrierte Fabrik- und Prozessplanung: "Grid Engineering for Manufacturing" (2009)

Abstract
In order to remain competitive and survive, the manufacturing enterprises, the so-called factories, have to be permanently adapted to the global turbulent market. By using digital tools, the quality of factory planning can be increased, the planning duration can be reduced and the planning errors can be identified earlier respectively avoided. Grid Engineering for Manufacturing (GEM) is an innovative approach for a continuous and integrated product design as well as factory and process planning. This article introduces the new concept, its first prototypical implementation, the "Grid Engineering for Manufacturing Laboratory - GEMLab" and a validation scenario.
